Next stop is Utah and the Zion National Park. There are a couple of particularly nice hikes, although the heatwave is still in full swing and it is hotter than hell. On our first day we hike up to the top of a hill called Angels Landing. At the start of the trail there is an ominous sign.
It’s short but steep. We reach the top of a hill where everyone seems to be picnicking and also guarding their picnic from cheeky chipmunks.
I thought this was the top, but then I realised that we had to go across a scarily narrow ridge.
Views from the top:
The next day we hiked “the Narrows” which is a trail following a river through a steep-sided canyon.
It starts off ankle deep:
Soon becomes knee deep:
The Narrows get my vote for nicest hike for days when it is over 40 degrees.
