Lake Titicaca

The day after the Gran Poder Festival, we picked our way through the detritus on the streets to catch an early bus to Copacabana (not that Copacabana – a small town on the shores of Lake Titicaca). From here were took a boat out to the Isla del Sol. This is the spiritual birthplace of the Inca people, the site of several ruins, and generally a very picturesque island. If you ignore the snow-topped Cordillera mountains in the distance, you would think you were on a postcard-perfect Greek island.
