Book 80 of 100

Brave New World – Aldous Huxley

I presume that this book is on the list because some of the author’s ideas of the dystopian future were original at the time it was written.  It’s a victim of  it’s own success, as most these ideas are now so typical of the genre that they have been covered in other books and films and are no longer that interesting to me.  And that just leaves the story and the characters, which I don’t think are that strong.  But it probably was groundbreaking in its day and I don’t doubt that modern science fiction would look very different if it hadn’t have been for this book.
