Book 94 of 100

Magician – Raymond Feist – swords and sorcery epic, with extra sci-fi space-time element to hit the two biggest geek genres.  I’ve got moderate geek tendencies so this was all fine by me, although I’m not sufficiently familiar with the fantasy genre to appreciate exactly where the line falls between honouring the traditions of the genre and simply plagiarising stuff from other authors.  There were a number of elements that seemed to me to be lifted directly from Tolkein.  Chapter 22 was where the protagonist becomes a magician and I would advise either skipping this chapter entirely or getting heavily intoxicated in advance – it would probably be awesome if you were off your nut on something or other.
