Spot the Deliberate Mistake

The Three Bears

For some reason, the advertising people have decided that the best way to sell us stuff is by featuring cute looking bears who sound gruff and threatening.

Coincidence, plagiarism or one advertising company palming off the same idea to three different clients?

iPad

Here’s an advert for the new iPad.

“Buy our shiny new gadget,” it says “and you can keep up to date with all your friends on social networks.”

Except if your friends are this dull, you might want to spend the money on some paint instead, so you can watch it dry.

Rudeness!

Ahem.  Disaronno, please.

Targeted Advertising

I’ve recently noticed that adverts for stuff I’ve looked at online (the John Lewis website) have started appearing in the banners e.g. on my hotmail account.  I’m reliably informed that this achieved with something called “tracking cookies”…mmm….cookies.

It’s a timely reminder that in cyberspace, everyone knows everything.  So if for example, you were googling stuff about tiny penes, that’s going to be on your records and you can expect to start receiving adverts offering to increase your girth any day now.

Attention All Advertising Peeps

I know you really, really like your Eva Cassidy cds, but can you please stop soundtracking every other TV advert with a cutesy-pie folky cover of a classic song, sung by a tremulous-voiced female singer who takes liberties with the melody.

Free Hair Cut

You’ve been overcharged.

Eagle-Eyed Spot

Who knows why I was paying such close attention to an advert for Toolstation, but I spotted Tommy Franzen, runner up of So You Think You Can Dance (last 10 seconds, back row, far left).  Showing absolutely none of the terpsichorean talent and flair that he displayed in the competition, but we all have to pay the bills.

That’s not how you eat a pizza…

Who eats a pizza like this? That’s the kind of slice you’d cut for someone who is allergic to pizza!

Catfood Pedant

There’s an advert for whiskers on TV at the moment (click replay if it doesn’t start automatically).  Starring Lucy (silver tabby) and Alfie (tortie and white).  Except torties are (almost) always female.  I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume Alfie was short for Alfreda, but “he’ll be back again tomorrow”…hmmm….you would have thought Whiskers knew more about cats than that.  I realise that this is slightly tragic that I know this.  Also, how boring is the woman’s dinner?  The catfood looks appetising by comparison.

The other advert that makes me laugh is this one -  ”feeling yourself again”.  Snigger.

I seriously need to reconsider my viewing habits if I’m the target audience for catfood and thrush treatment.
