Kayaking: 30 Things – 17 of 30

I ticked off the 17th thing on my 30 things to do list when I was on holiday a few weeks ago: sea kayaking.  Never done it before so I expected our day to involve paddling around the harbour for the morning to get the idea, before maybe exploting a little bit of the shore in the afternoon.  But actually, the sea was flat and Mr Beet and I were in a twin kayak which are pretty robust, so we just headed straight out from Whitesands beach.

Then we circumnavigated Ramsay Island, followed by lots of inquisitive seals,

before “hopping the Bitches” (a row of rocks, apparently famous in the kayaking world) to get back to shore.
